About Civil Department
The Department of Civil Engineering at Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Professional Management and Technology was established in 2009. The department offers undergraduate (B.Tech) and postgraduate (M.Tech) programs in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University. In addition, it also offers a Ph.D. program in Civil Engineering, fostering advanced research and innovation in specialized areas such as structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, water resources engineering, and environmental engineering.
The academic programs are designed to build a strong foundation in planning, analysis, design, construction, and maintenance of sustainable infrastructure, contributing to regional, national, and global development in alignment with the department’s vision. IGS Student Chapter
Welcome to the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) Student Chapter at SSIPMT, Raipur! 🌏 The IGS Student Chapter is a dynamic platform that inspires students to explore the fascinating world of geotechnical engineering. Our mission is to promote knowledge-sharing, research, and innovation in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and emerging geotechnical technologies. 📊🛠️
Inaugurated on 13 June 2021 during a Short-Term Training Program (STTP) on Geotechnical, Mining & Geology organized by the IGS Raipur Chapter in partnership with NIT Raipur and SSIPMT, this was the second Student Chapter established in the entire state of Chhattisgarh.
The primary objective of the IGS Student Chapter at SSIPMT is to promote awareness, interest, and innovation in the field of geotechnical engineering among civil engineering students. It aims to provide a platform for learning beyond the classroom through expert interactions, technical events, and research opportunities, while also fostering leadership, teamwork, and professional development. The IGS Student Chapter at SSIPMT, Raipur, actively engages students through a variety of academic and professional initiatives. Notable activities include expert webinars, technical workshops, and short-term training programs (STTPs) in collaboration with NIT Raipur and IGS Raipur Chapter.
Topics have covered geotechnical investigations, innovations in pile foundation systems, and modern research trends. These events provide hands-on exposure, foster research aptitude, and enhance understanding of core geotechnical concepts. Through continuous interaction with industry professionals and academicians, the chapter empowers students to explore real-world engineering challenges and develop leadership in the field.

The Civil Engineering Department proudly hosts a state-of-the-art Center of Excellence, equipped with premier industry software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Oracle Primavera, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, and Bentley MXROAD. This facility serves as a vital hub for advanced training, research, and practical application, enabling students and professionals to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world engineering solutions.
The Center also offers a range of certification-based training programs that equip participants with recognized credentials in critical areas of civil engineering. These include specialized certificate courses in Project Planning and Scheduling using Primavera, 2D Drafting and 3D Modeling with AutoCAD, Building Information Modeling (BIM) with Revit, Structural Design and Analysis using ETABS and STAAD.Pro, and Transportation Design with MXROAD.

The department of Civil Engineering (IT) is having an association name i-tech. This departmental association was shaped in August, 2011. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th years students are involved in the association. On behalf of the association we are conducting the seminars, paper presentations, workshops and association activities. We are conducting the seminars and workshops on emerging technologies like Microsoft Windows Phone-8, Ethical hacking, android, .net, python etc.,

- Civil Department has MOU with CAD Academy and SAI Design & Software Solutions.
- Total Consultancy work in different civil practices worth around 20.50 Lakh till session 2020-2021.
- Civil Department have successful 100% result in ESE in year 2020,2021.
- The department has 87.9 % passing percentage for the 2013 - 2017 Batch, 82.5 % for 2014-2018 batch and 77.3 % for the 2015-2019 batch.
- A team from civil department has won One Lakh Cash Prize in the National Level Competition – Smart India Hackathon 2022 for the theme “RAPID DECOMPOSITION OF WASTE MATERIALS IN RURAL AREAS”.
- Mission Amrit Sarovar had planned a target to construct or rejuvenateAmrit Sarovar pondsin Raipur for which 15 students from civil department have got about 2 Lakh Rupee as a Paid Internship.

Departmental Activities
The Civil Engineering Department organizes a wide range of activities in every academic session to ensure the holistic development of students. These include curricular and co-curricular activities such as technical seminars, workshops, expert lectures, and competitions that strengthen theoretical understanding and practical skills.
In addition, regular field visits to construction sites, industries, and infrastructure projects are arranged to provide real-world exposure. The department also conducts software training programs on industry-relevant tools to enhance technical proficiency and employability.
Through these initiatives, students gain hands-on experience, stay updated with modern engineering practices, and develop the skills required for professional success in the field of civil engineering.
Center of Excellence
The Civil Engineering Department proudly hosts a state-of-the-art Center of Excellence, equipped with premier industry software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Oracle Primavera, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, and Bentley MXROAD. This facility serves as a vital hub for advanced training, research, and practical application, enabling students and professionals to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world engineering solutions.
The Center also offers a range of certification-based training programs that equip participants with recognized credentials in critical areas of civil engineering. These include specialized certificate courses in Project Planning and Scheduling using Primavera, 2D Drafting and 3D Modeling with AutoCAD, Building Information Modeling (BIM) with Revit, Structural Design and Analysis using ETABS and STAAD.Pro, and Transportation Design with MXROAD.
These software training programs are conducted under Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading industry partners, namely CAD BRAIN and Sai Design & Software Solution, ensuring industry-relevant curriculum, expert mentorship, and exposure to professional practices.
Delivered by certified instructors and aligned with industry standards, these courses enhance technical proficiency, boost employability, and prepare learners for global opportunities. By integrating hands-on experience with certification training, the Center of Excellence empowers future engineers to lead with competence, confidence, and creativity in a rapidly evolving infrastructure landscape.
